Barna GAA Notes Dec 9th 2003
The final round of the Senior League takes place on Sunday afternoon next
when Barna travel the reasonably short road trip over the hill, to take on
Moycullen . How matters have changed with the combination of recent results
and decisions, as the winners of this clash will now play a winner takes all
event. Its been a long time since these two neighbours played a game of such
importance, as we have tended to avoid each other over the years. The winner
of sundays encounter will face Glenamaddy in a Division B Final , a match
which will hardly take place until the new year with Xmas upon us. At the
time of writing I cannot say if Barna will be short all three of their
injured regular players, namely Brian Conneelly, Eoin McDonagh and Franny
Gannon. I have no doubt that Brian will not play again, until February on
medical advice. In recent years Barna would not have placed Moycullen as
huge a rival as say Killannin, but I am certain that will not prevent next
sundays clash from been a huge game for both the clubs and supporters, with
a place in a county League final on the line.
The Barna Lotto Jackpot now goes to 5,100 as there was no outright winner
last sunday at Bert Curran’s M T Pockets on Prospect hill. The numbers
pulled were 5,14,16 and 17. There were however just two Match three winners,
nanelty Sinead Cunningham , Cappagh and Cillin and Caoimhe McDermott of
Aille, Barna.
The draw next week will be held at the Spinnaker Pub n Knocknacarragh .
