Barna win Comortas Peile

FINAL: Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta
Barna 2-8
Naomh Anna Leitir Mór 0-11

Mon, 3 May 2010

Barna Seniors have won the Galway Comortas Peile na Gaeltachta final beating Leitir Mor at Inverin. The game showed the great work that has been put in by all involved and the progress made my the senior panel in 2010. Hopefully this successful run well set the team up well ahead of a summer of league and championship.

Barna played with the very strong wind in the first half and were conscious that they need to put plenty of scores on the board before half time. A great score from distance by Ray Conneely and a Kieran Hanley goal were the highlights of the scoring in the first half. Leitir Mor are a club that has enjoyed success at Intermediate last year and they would have hoped that this experience would have helped them overcome the half time score deficit. They did in fact make a strong comeback in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net to get close enough to Barna. Indeed it was Donal Feeney that found the net for Barna early in the second half. The goal was enough to keep Barna ahead until the final whistle.

Barna’s Paddy kennedy was awarded Man of the Match.

Barna will now compete in the finals which will take place in Belmullet, Co. Mayo.

Congratulation to the players and management team.
