U12 Girls Championship

The U12 girls team played their Championship semi final in Mountbellew on Monday evening. Having made the long journey by Bus with Murt at the wheel ,the girls took to the pitch with confidence having disposed of Oranmore and Carraroe in earlier rounds. In a close game at this level the teams traded goals with Megan Mulleady scoring for Barna , some fine play from Catherine Timon set up the forwards for two points. The girls were trailing at half time but they got a great start to the second half with another goal after a goal mouth scramble. Ciara Kilbane and Grainne Faherty kept pushing forward and,Two more points followed but this was not enough to reach the final as the home team won on a scoreline of 4-4 to 2-4. All girls that traveled played their part either by playing or supporting the team.

The Junior ladies were due to play Monivea on Friday evening at Barna in their league campaign but were given a walk over due to in ability of the away team to field 15 players.

The Under 7’s play their first blitz on Thursday 27 against An Spidéil at 5.45. Training continues on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The Under 9’s took part in two very successful blitzs in the last week. On Wednesday last we hosted Bóthar na Trá/Cnoc na Cathrach, there was some big numbers in attendance and great football played by both sides. Last Saturday two under 9 teams from played an excellently organised blitz in Claregalway against. Claregalway and Oranmore. To the organisers – Go raibh míle maith agaibh. Training continues on Wednesdays and Saturdays

The club would like to express its condolences with Seamus Kilbane and family on the recent death of his mother.
