The Barna seniors travelled to Belmullet last weekend for the National Comortas finals. It was the first time since 1979 that the club had qualified for the national competition whilst it was the first time the club had ever qualified for the senior competition. In the opening round Barna were pitted against the Kerry Champions, An Daingean. Barna got off to a terrific start putting 0-5 on the score board to An Daingeans 0.1, however Barnas early dominance was short lived as An Daingean grew into the game and despite Barna going in at the interval with a two point lead An Daingean were to eventually win the match on a score line of 1-9 to 1-11. The club would like to thank the players and management for the manner in which they represented the club, Muireann Nic Dhonncha who represented the club in the Cailin Gaelach competition, Seamus Murray for providing accomadation, the Girls Currach racing team made of Noreen, Agnes and Helen, Sean O’Grainne the clubs Irish Officer and all the club supporters that travelled to the event.
