Annual Banquet

Barna GAA had their annual banquet last Saturday night at the
Connemara Coast Hotel. Special guests on the night were Bosco
McDermott Snr.

On the night club chairman Aidan Brady reflected on a mixed year on the pitch for the club, with the ladies juvenile section proving the main the source of silver ware, he thanked last years committee for their work and effort they put into the club over the previous twelve
months.

In his speech Bosco McDermott reflected on his time in Barna and the many roles he undertook in the club, the players that he coached and those players who are no longer with us

Paddy Kennedy received the award for senior player of the year whilst Greg Lundy picked up the award for junior A player of the year, ladies player of the year was Sarah Jane Grehan.

The Nicholas O’Fegan cup which is awarded to the minor player of the year was this year won by Charlie Timon, Stephen Delaney was the U21 player of the year.

The team of the year went to the ladies team whilst a special
recognition award was presented to Pat Fallon the clubs coaching
officer, as this Gay O’Brien in reflection of his work in setting up the ladies section of the club.

Club man of the year was shared between Ivan O’Connell and Cormac Donoghue. Bosco McDermott Snr was awarded the life time achievement award for his dedication to the club over the years.

The club would like to thank Donnelly’s of Barna for sponsoring the awards on the night. The club would also like to thank those companies who donated spot prizes; these prizes added much to the enjoyment of the night. Finally the club would like to thank the staff at the Coonemara Coast Hotel for providing a fine meal.

The numbers drawn in this weeks lotto draw were 7,12,13,16. There was six match three winners who each received twenty euros. They were John Devaney, Aislish Hernon, John Daly, Eileen O’Connor, Sean Curran and Kathleen O’Halloran. Next weeks jackpot is 20,000 euros.
