Barna juvenile girls section thriving

It has been busy for all teams in the Juvenile Girls Football playing for Barna Gaa. First up were the U16 girls who after a good win against Na Piarsaigh last week faced Grainne Mhaols in Barna on Sunday.

The U16 team were missing their county Player Valerie Brosnan who was involved with Galway U16 team.

The girls were slow to settle and allowed the away team take a commanding lead of three goals but great credit to Barna they dug deep in the second half and ran out comfortable winners. All players on the day showed great determination playing against the hill to win.

Next up were the U14 girls, who in their first league game for the new season were up against Leitir Moir in Barna. This is the first time that most of the girls have played on the full pitch and judging by the way they played they were very comfortable with it and ran out easy winners in the end.

This is one of the largest groups in girls football within Barna and the team will be hoping for a good league campaign. We wish Meadhbh Corcoran good luck in the U14 Connacht final where Galway face Mayo on Sunday.

Finally the U12 girls who were up against Glenamaddy in the quarter final of their league campaign. The girls have had a good campaign so far and they kept up their winning record with a victory over Glenamaddy. Playing with the wind in the first half, they scored the vital goals , five in total and five points without reply. Solid defending in the second half led to a win for the Barna girls where they will meet Carraroe in the semi-final.
