Barna GAA is hosting the annual Gerry Gannon Cup tournament again this St Stephen’s Day – but with a twist!
This December 26 the club will organise a seven-a-side Gaelic football blitz to reinvigorate a 25-year tradition.
All players and members of the club are encouraged to go to Furbo pitch for the event, which is being organised again by senior player, Brian Conneely.
Past players and members are also invited back for the tournament and asked to ‘dust off’ their old boots and take part, in this the 50th year of Barna GAA Club.
The first game throws in at 1.30pm with the ladies’ final at 2.30pm and the men’s final at 3pm.
It is the perfect way to work off that excess turkey from Christmas Day. There will be some warm festive drinks served for supporters pitch-side and more refreshments afterwards in Donnelly’s of Barna.
The cup that will be competed for on the day was donated by the Gannon family to commemorate the late Gerry Gannon.
