Tough championship draws for U21s, minors

The club’s U21 footballers will take on city side St James’ in the first round of the 2013 Galway U21 A club West Board championship.
Mattie Lawless’ team’s first round opponents was unveiled following an open draw on Tuesday.
The match is scheduled to take place either the last weekend of January or the first weekend of February.
St James’ won ‘home’ advantage in the draw and so the match will be played in Renmore/Mervue.
The losers of this first round match are given a second bite of the cherry and are entered into a ‘round robin’ draw and can re-emerge through the back-door of the competition.
Meanwhile, the club’s minor footballers have drawn neighbours An Spidéal in the county minor championship draw which also took place this week. That match will take place at a neutral venue in May. The draw for the minor league is not yet known.
