Barna Girls U8 and U9

The team took part in a Blitz in Annaghdown last weekend. They performed very well and enjoyed the experience. For many of the girls this was their first real gaelic match. A lot of parents turned up to give the girls encouragement from the sidelines and this was much appreciated. Coach Colm McDonald was very pleased. ‘They played their hearts out and that is all we can ever look for in a game.’ Coach Emer McDonell was equally pleased, ‘Its so important that they have positive experiences when they start playing sport. I was very happy at how they tried to put into the game all the skills we practice at training.’ Piaras O’Mainin paid tribute to Annaghdown GAA club. ‘They put a lot of effort in to host the event today. They had three pitches laid out in go-games format and referees to run things smoothly. It was very impressive and we hope to match that level of organisation when they come to Furbo.’
Well done to all the girls who took part in the Blitz- keep up the great work.
