The Westboard Girls U11 blitz took place last Saturday in perfect conditions in Killanin. Eight teams took part, making two groups of four, ensuring plenty of playing time for all girls. The Barna girls had Moycullen, An Cheathru Rua and Killanin to compete against. Teams had to field a minimum of nine players and this suited Barna as they were a few girls unavailable on the day. With the emphasis on development, the Barna girls got off to a great start against Moycullen, with all players competing and taking some fine scores during the game to register a win. Next on the fixture list was An Cheathru Rua. The girls took up where they left off against Moycullen and secured a fine win. Killanin, having also secured two wins, were the next opponents. This was a very close game but all the hard work that the Barna girls had put in proved worthwhile with a very good win against Killanin and secure a position in the A final on the 15th July in Killanin at 7.15pm, against near neighbours Salthill.
Ten girls took part on the day and each and every one played their part in securing a place in the A final. Missing from the photo is Aisling Walsh
