Senior’s drawn against Bert’s Leitír Mór

The club’s senior team will play away against Naomh Anna Leitír Mór in the quarter-finals of the Galway Comórtas Peil na Gaeltachta.

The match will be played in Leitír Mór on Saturday, March 16 at 3.30pm.

Leitír Mór’s management team are headed up this year by two Barna men, Bert Curran and Seán Conlon, which should add an extra bit of intrigue and rivalry to the fixture.

The winners advance to the semi-final and take on one of four teams, An Spideál, Baile Clár na Gaillimhe, An Cheathrú Rua or Micheál Breathnach, who must qualify through preliminary rounds. The draw was made earlier this week.

There will be two 10 minutes periods of extra time in the event of a draw, plus a further five minutes if it’s still a draw. If it’s still all square it will be ‘first score wins’.

The winners of the Galway competition will qualify to represent the county at the national Comórtas, which will this year be hosted by Rinn Ó gCuanach CLG in Waterford.

Meanwhile, the Galway Football Committee of the County Board has released details of the sequences in which the adult leagues will be played this season.
Barna GAA Club’s senior footballers, who compete in Division One ‘B’ of the league, will play away to Micheál Breathnach in round one.
Details of the times and dates of the fixtures have yet to be released.
The following is the list of the opponents the Barna seniors face in each of the other eight rounds of the league: Round 2, home versus Salthill/Knocknacarra; round 3, away versus Carna/Caiseal; round four, home versus Cortoon Shamrocks; round 5, away versus Annaghdown; round 6, home versus Killererin; round 7, away versus Caltra; round 8, home versus Oughterard; round 9, home versus Menlough.
